Quick Overview
The Iruya is Yerba Crew's newest gourd, an insulated ceramic mate gourd handcrafted by CICLO in Buenos Aires. Its swirled glaze, greens, blues, purples, and warm tans, takes its colors from Iruya, a mountain town tucked into Salta, Argentina. It's a fall limited edition: only 35 are available this season. A Gourd Inspired by a Town in Salta
The name comes from Iruya, a small mountain town tucked into the far north of Salta, Argentina, the kind of place locals describe as one that seems to come down from the sky itself. That quiet, layered feeling is what CICLO built into this gourd. The glaze swirls green, blue, purple, and warm tan together like the rings of an iris, mirroring the way a Salta autumn moves through several colors at once rather than all at once. Because each piece is hand finished, no two gourds are exactly alike.
An Insulated Ceramic Gourd, Ready to Use
CICLO's ceramic gourds are the only insulated ceramic mate gourds available in the United States and only available through Yerba Crew. The double-wall stoneware construction is their own unique design, built to help keep your yerba mate warm while staying comfortable to hold. Unlike a natural calabash or wood gourd, there's no curing process to go through first. It's dishwasher safe, microwave safe, and after that, just a rinse between uses.
Handcrafted by Juan and Lourdes in Buenos Aires
CICLO Studio was founded in 2020 by Juan and Lourdes, partners in life and craft. What started in a family garage grew into a full ceramic studio they built themselves in Buenos Aires. Juan handles the design and 3D modeling, and Lourdes hand finishes every piece and documents its story through photography. This collaboration connects two small businesses that both care about craftsmanship, culture, and the people behind the work.
What Comes With Your Iruya
At about 130ml, roughly 4.4oz, the Iruya is sized for the solo yerba mate routine common across Argentina: easy to refill, and it holds its warmth well between pours. Every Iruya ships with a:
- Bombilla Plana, a flat slotted stainless steel bombilla
- Handmade canvas bag sewn by a women's cooperative in Argentina
- Quick Start Guide to get you going;
- A recyclable tube for the whole set, useful keep around for storing yerba or a bombilla later on.
A Limited Run for Fall
- This is a limited run. Only 35 Iruya gourds are available this season.
- Since Lourdes finishes every piece by hand, each one carries slightly different glaze and color.
- It's part of Yerba Crew's fall lineup, selling now through November.
Only 35 remain this season. Send Yours Home Today.
