CICLO Iruya Fall Limited Edition Ceramic Mate Gourd

Bring the colors of a Salta autumn into your daily mate routine with the CICLO Iruya gourd. Handcrafted by Juan and Lourdes, a two-person artisan team in Buenos Aires, its layered greens, blues, purples, and warm tans swirl like an iris in stoneware, inspired by Iruya, a mountain town tucked into the far north of Salta, Argentina. No two gourds are exactly alike.

The First of Its Kind in the U.S.

CICLO gourds are the only insulated ceramic mate gourds available in the United States. Their proprietary design blends traditional craftsmanship with a functional, double-walled structure that helps keep your mate warm while remaining comfortable to hold.

The CICLO Story

CICLO Studio was founded in 2020 by Juan and Lourdes, partners in life and craft. What began in a family garage evolved into a full ceramic studio they built themselves in Buenos Aires. Juan brings design and 3D modeling expertise, while Lourdes finishes each piece by hand and documents its story through photography. This collaboration with Yerba Crew connects two small businesses rooted in craftsmanship, culture, and the human side of commerce.

Inspired by Iruya

Iruya takes its name from a hidden mountain town in Salta, Argentina, whose quiet, layered palette of green, blue, purple, and tan stuck with us on our own trip through the region. The glaze layers those same colors like the rings of an iris, mirroring the way autumn moves through several colors at once rather than all at once.

Artisan-Crafted with Purpose

Each gourd is produced using high-temperature stoneware clay sourced from Patagonia and carefully hand finished. CICLO’s double-wall construction is a proprietary innovation designed to preserve heat and keep the everyday mate routine simple. No curing required.

Why This Size Works

With a 130ml capacity (about 4.4 oz), this gourd fits the solo mate routine common across Argentina. It's easy to refill, efficient with yerba, and holds its warmth well between pours.

Sustainable Touches

Each set ships in a recyclable tube that can be reused to store yerba or a bombilla. The included handmade canvas bag is sewn by a women’s cooperative in Argentina, protecting your gourd while supporting dignified local work.
