Inspired by the snowy peaks of Argentina’s Patagonia, the Bariloche White gourd is made from high-fired ceramic with a wide mouth for easy use and a smooth white glaze that fits any setting. Each set includes a stainless steel bombilla, a bombilla cleaner, and a quick start guide to help you brew your first mate with confidence.

Choose your Yerba Style
Every bundle includes one 1 lb bag of yerba mate. You choose the style:

  • Yerba Crew Corrientes – A smooth, beginner-friendly blend grown on a 4th-generation farm in Corrientes. Mild, clean, and naturally air-dried.
  • Canarias Traditional – A bold, Uruguayan-style yerba with no stems and a fine cut. High in caffeine and used by elite athletes.
  • Cruz de Malta – A classic Argentine yerba with a robust flavor and balanced bitterness. Trusted by generations.
  • Anna Park Organic – Certified organic and mellow, with a clean taste. Grown without pesticides in Misiones, Argentina.

Materials
The Bariloche White gourd is crafted from high-temperature glazed ceramic. It includes a stainless steel bombilla (6.1 in / 155 mm) and a stainless steel bombilla cleaning brush (7 in / 178 mm).

Dimensions & Capacity
Gourd measures approximately 3.4 in tall and holds around 6 oz of liquid. Wide mouth makes it easy to fill and clean.

Yerba Mate Included
Choose from 1 lb bags of Yerba Crew Corrientes, Canarias Traditional, Cruz de Malta, or Anna Park Organic. All are gluten-free. Anna Park and Yerba Crew Corrientes are unsmoked. Canarias is fine-cut and stem-free. Cruz de Malta is a traditional cut with stems.

Care
Gourd is easy to rinse and reuse. Handwash recommended for longevity. No curing required. Dishwasher safe if needed.

Will my gourd look exactly like the picture?
The quick answer is “mostly”. We aim to keep the gourds about 85% consistent with the design but the handmade nature of the production allows for color and shape variations. Each gourd is unique and one of a kind.

How do I wash ceramic mate gourds?
For long-term usage, it is best to hand wash ceramic mates. Machine washing will not destroy the mates but it may cause the colors to fade over time.

Are ceramic gourds fragile?
These stoneware mates are strong but they are still made of clay and will most likely chip, crack, or break if dropped more than a few feet from the ground.

When does the yerba mate expire? All the yerba we ship has at least 12 months of shelf life before it expires.

How long will this last me? If you drink one mate per day (about 40g of yerba), 500g of yerba will last you about 12 and a half days and 1000g is about 25 days. My method is to plan for 2 bags of 1kg yerba per month.

How much caffeine is in yerba mate? About 80mg of caffeine per cup however the amount varies based on whether you are drinking using traditional or mate cocido prep methods.

Where should I store yerba mate?
Store in a dark, dry, and cool location like inside a cabinet.

How do I keep the yerba mate fresh?
After the bag is opened, you can either store the yerba in a sealable container or use a rubber band to keep the bag closed. Check out our yerberas and dispensers for optimal storage!
