An Eclectic Herbal Experience
This past Sunday, we hosted our Old City Mateada at Old City Kava Company in Philadelphia. Even with a blizzard forecast rolling in later that afternoon, a big crowd of people came through to drink, connect, and explore something different.
The snow prevented some commuters from making it, but it did not stop the vibe.
The goal for this event was simple.
Bring together yerba mate, kava, and botanical drinks in one relaxed, welcoming space.
Old City Kava Company has officially become a yerba mate friendly space, and that was a big part of the energy. People were able to:

Explore botanical-style drinks alongside mate
It was casual, warm, and exactly what we hoped for.
Why These Events Matter
Strangers tried something new.
Regulars brought their own gourds.
People asked thoughtful questions.
People stayed longer than they planned.
That is the whole point.
Yerba mate is not just a drink. It is a ritual. When that ritual is shared in a welcoming space, it becomes something bigger.
It becomes connection.
