Playadito Yerba Mate

Smooth, Mellow, and Widely Loved
Playadito Yerba Mate Traditional is a classic Argentine yerba with a smooth yet subtly complex flavor. Gentle on the palate with soft woody notes, it's the kind of mate you can drink any time of day.

Beginner-Friendly and Balanced
This traditional cut includes stems (con palo) and has very little dust, giving it a clean, mellow profile. A great first mate for newcomers, and still satisfying for mid-level drinkers looking for something light but long-lasting.

Best When Brewed Right
To get the full flavor and energizing effect, be sure to use water between 160°F and 180°F. The taste lasts through many refills when brewed at the right temperature.

Classic 1 lb Bag for Everyday Use
This is the 500g (1.1 lb) size. Most mate drinkers go through 2–3 bags per month. No added flavors, just the smooth, soothing taste Playadito is known for.

Ingredients & Sourcing
Made by the Cooperative of Colonia Liebig in Corrientes, Argentina. This traditional yerba includes stems (con palo), has low dust, and no added flavors or preservatives. Naturally gluten-free and aged for a minimum of 12 months.

Weight & Servings
Each bag contains 1.1 lbs (500g) of yerba mate, yielding approximately 12 to 13 servings (based on 40g per gourd). Great for everyday drinkers — most people go through 2–3 bags per month.

Flavor Profile
Smooth, mellow, and subtly sweet with low bitterness. Woody undertones and a gentle finish make it easy to sip throughout the day, especially in the late afternoon.

Package Info
Packaged weight: 1 lb 2 oz. Dimensions: 2.75in x 4in x 8.5in. Traditional paper-style bag (not resealable). Store in a cool, dry place to preserve freshness.

Yerba Mate FAQs

When does yerba mate expire?
All the yerba we ship has at least 12 months of shelf life before it expires.

How long will a bag of yerba mate last me?
If you drink one mate per day (about 35g of yerba), here’s how long each size will last:

  • 1lb of yerba (450 to 500g): 13-14 days
  • 2lbs of yerba (900-1000g): About 28 days
My personal method? I plan for 2 bags of 1lb yerba per month.

How much caffeine is in yerba mate?
Yerba mate contains approximately 80mg of caffeine per cup, though this can vary depending on how you prepare it. Traditional methods typically yield higher caffeine content compared to mate cocido (tea bag or French press style).

Where should I store yerba mate?
Store your yerba mate in a dark, dry, and cool location, like a kitchen cabinet or pantry.

How do I keep yerba mate fresh?

  • If you're using a Yerba Crew resealable bag, simply close the seal to keep your yerba fresh.
  • If you have a non-resealable bag, store the yerba in a sealable container or use a rubber band to keep it closed.

Quick thoughts playadito

"Subject: Quick Thoughts Hey there, I'm so glad to share my experience with the product. I must say, it's really something else, and I've been enjoying it. The quality is truly impressive, and it works way better than I expected. Furthermore, I'm also a big fan of the brand in general. The best part is the delivery, which was incredibly quick. I can't wait to keep using the product!"

Starter

"Playadito is absolutely great, especially if your going in blind like I did having read the health benefits and having zero clue if I'd like yerba. But it's mellow and forgiving. And even after moving to stronger flavored yerba, I still occasionally go back to my original friend here."

This is the second brand

"This is the second brand I have tried. The first was Canarias , which I loved. Wanting to experiment I read the reviews and went with Playadito to try something milder. I really like it , but I do prefer the stronger Canarias."

Stephen Q. (5/5)

"This is my first time drinking an Argentinan brand and I already taste and feel a difference. Its WAY smoother and less harsh on the taste buds, but the issue is the flavor is subtle. It does take a couple more pours for the flavor to really appear. But then it dissappears too quickly"
